Palazzo Ducale in Urbino and Palazzo della Signoria in Florence are among the most important centers
of renaissance creativity. Here, travelers are able to appreciate outstanding works by Raffaello,
Bramante, Paolo Ucello, Tiziano and many others. Between these two spectacular centers is a constant
flow of artwork that is shared between the galleries. This tour is an invitation to enjoy the Italian artistic
genius stretching from the home of the Medici, breathtaking Florence, to the fabled City of Urbino which
was loved and protected by the Montefeltro family.
Priced from €946 to €1338 per person, based on double occupancy and including:
- 3 nights at 4-star Hotel Brunelleschi in central Florence.
- 4 nights at a 4-star Urbino Resort, with spa and outdoor pool.

- 1 “Hidden Passage” tour of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence
- 1 “Hop on Hop off” bus sightseeing tour of Florence and Fiesole. (valid 48 hours).

- 1 Truffle hunt excursion in Aqualunga, with expert hunter and dog, including truffle tasting
delicacies at the end of the tour.

PROGRAM:
Day 1: Independent arrival and check-in your hotel in Florence. Free time on you own perhaps to visit
Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral dome, Brunelleschi chapel and baptistery of St. John. The expedition
culminating in a splendid 360° panoramic view of the city from atop Giotto’s bell tower.

Day 2: Take advantage of the sightseeing bus tour available on lines A and B. You may join the tour at
any stop. Even Fiesole, with its Etruscan and Roman archeological site is in reach. The bus ticket is valid
for 48 hours.

Day 3: The Uffizi Gallery houses a collection of work by renaissance artists that is second to none. A
whole day can easily pass as the visitor strolls through the galleries absorbing the magnificent collection.
Your direct access ticket allows you to enter the gallery without joining the inevitable long queues. The
rest of the day include your visit to the Palazzo Vecchio for a guided tour of the palace that will reveal
the splendid rooms and hidden doors and passages only recently opened to the public. Afterwards,
perhaps take a stroll across the Ponte Vecchio, with its working craftsmen’s workshops.

Day 4: After breakfast check out of the hotel, pick up your rental car at Florence’s central railway station
and set off for a scenic drive across Tuscany and Marche. The countryside is beautiful and there are
tempting stops along the way; Greve in Chianti, the Verrazano estate and winery, Siena, Arezzo,
Anghiari, Bocca Trabaria and finally renaissance Urbino. Check in at your hotel and relax at the spa.

Day 5: Begin the day with a guided tour of Urbino and have the architectural and historic sights and
sounds of the city revealed to you. (3 hours). Later perhaps on your own, tour the ducal palace (ticket not
included) and marvel at the exquisite standards of design and workmanship. In nearby Ubania Majolica
ware continues to be produced by the artisans at Casteldurante who continue a centuries old tradition of
craftsmanship.

Day 6: Today you will join the truffle hunt led by an experienced guide and trained dog. The hunt takes
place along the Furlo Gorge to Acqualagna. In addition to white truffles the area of the gorge is famous
for mushrooms, cheeses and olive oil. The tour itself lasts 1 ½ hours and ends with a tasting of local
truffle based delicacies. The rest of the day may be spent exploring the Montefeltro region whose
numerous castles and fortresses speak of the times past.

Day 7: Near Urbino is Gradara castle, site of the legendary love story of Paolo and Francesca which
was immortalized by the poet Dante Alighieri. The area abounds with artistic and architectural wonders.
Tour the castle grounds and follow the paths worn down by generations of patrolling sentinels. Followed
by a candlelit dinner at a restaurant in Gradara town to cap off your experience.
Day 8: Breakfast and early departure for Florence to return the car at the main railway station. Should
you wish to extend your car rental beyond the five days, please make arrangements with the car rental
company for payment of the additional rental.
